ICONOGRAPHY OF HORROR

Down below is my research on the horror films I was looking at the iconography of horror. This task was very easy I already knew the iconography of a horror I did a few examples because there where so many to do I chose the ones that I knew about already for example blood, knife and devils. once done I asked my teacher if it was ok to post before doing so. I found it difficult to post as I hadn't really used slide share before and I had no idea how to upload a powerpoint. However, my teacher was very helpful in helping me upload so now I know how to do it next when I upload more research. Futhermore I have learnt that about the different iconographies horror genre uses to scare the aduinece in different. From I shall use some on the iconographies depend on which sub genre of horror I do for example if I made a slasher I would use knifes.
I am in a group of 3 its me Jawaad and Amy down below Jawaad has conducted research on certificate ratings on behalf of are group by doing this we have found out what content is subistable to use in are horror movie. We can only go up to 15 as we are older then 15 but yeah then 18 so me must use the suitable content we are aloud to use. However, is we do decide to chose are certificate rating as 15 we automatically exclude anyone under 15 to target at.We will see the result from are questionnaire and take into consideraration what age group they are. I have learnt from this powerpoint what cretificate ratings we can go up to and what we can use in are horror depend on the certificate rating it goes up.
The timeline below is a timeline of the history of horror. Amy took this task on as she thought she want to be created and do a timeline. Which I thought was a very good idea to do. By doing this research we can look in a variety of ways how horror has changed  and uses this to steal ideas from different horrors to use in are movie. We can see the impact it has since the 1900's to the present day. From this I have learnt the history of horror and how is has changed. By looking at this if we was going to do an older horror we could uses the convention that they use in the early horror from that generantion.

The next bit of research is down by me I look at the sub genre of horrors. By doing this we can see what conventions are used in different horrors. So when my group bits are genre we can look back at this and see the conventions we need to do. This task was very simple and easy because I already knew a lot about horrors so it was mostly my own knowledge. However the most difficult part was finding a reliable source of information because wikiapedia  was a bias source and my teacher wouldn't like it if I didn't get information from there so I decide to look in books and get information which is more correct. I have learnt from this piece of research that some sub genres follow different conventions. So depending on which sub genre of horror we chose for are horror we will be able to identify the conventions we need to use to follow to produced a horror.

Evaluation

PRELIMINARY TASK EVALUATION

The task below is are evaluation for are preliminary task. In this task we had to find a way to be creative and evaluate in a unique way. We decide to do and interview with each group member Jawaad was the interviewer and Amy Fatima and myself where getting interviewed by Jawaad and Jawaad was going to be interviewed by Amy. My role was to set up the camera to film the interview and edit. Once done I realised that are evaluation was very weak. However, we didn't have any more time to go back an redo it. This was because we had move on to are next task. If we fined enough time to evaluate any we will redo until then I will carry on moving forward.

Preliminary Task AS Media

PRELIMINARY TASK

This post below is are preliminary task. In this task we had to make a 60-90 second clip where there is a character walking through a hallway to a room and exchange a few words with another character. We had to demonstrate this by doing a variety of different shots e.g close up mid shot and long shot. For example in the clip there is an extreme close up of a character opening a door. We had to work in a group of 4 my role in the group was to work with the cameras Fatima and Jawaad where actors and Amy edited.  When doing this we had to remember the key things the task was asking us to do. They where to make sure that we showed match on action 180 degree rule also used a variety of different shots and finally remember that we had to show shot reverse shot between the two characters and ensured their eye levels matched.

Match on action

MATCH ON ACTION

Match on action is action commenced in shot A is completed in shot B, or an action in shot A is mirrored by an action in shot B. In this activity we had to demonstrate match on action.

We carried out the task by split are self up into group of fours or threes, my group was a four in my group was Jawaad Amy Fatima and myself. Once we where in our group we then decide which way would be the best to carry out match on action. My group and me thought the best way to carry this out was to film a person walking up the stairs using a varity of camera shots e.g. Close up mid shot high angle low angle. After we did this we the went out and filmed it, Fatima was the actress Me and Jawaad where the camera men and amy was doing the editing. It took us half the lesson to film this was because we had discussed what we was doing before we started. Once we had finished filming we then upload are footage and started editing this took longer as we had a lot of footage to look through and put the right bits we need in the clip so it didn't jump.

The most simplest part of this activity was filming this was because we had discussed how we was going to carry this out also the shots we did where very easy to film. Furthermore I enjoy filming so I tried my best to film to the best of my ability.

The most hardest part of this activity was editing. This was because we had to look through all are footage and find the right

AS Media Shot reverse shot and 180 degree rule activity

180 DEGREE RULE

180 degree rule is guideline regarding the filming of a spacial relationship between a character and another character. The camera and the characters do not go pass the axis they both stay on one side. Character a would always appear framed to the left of character b and character b would always be appear framed to the right.

Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character. The other character is the shown looking back at the first character. It is important that their eye line matches so the audience know they are looking at each other.

I had actor in the clip this was very easy for me but the challenging part was trying to keep a straight face and stay focus and keep my eye level matching jawaad's the easiest part was remembering my lines.

After we had finished we then peer assed are work. My peer said that the control of camera was good as we obeyed the 180 degree rule, but  the said there was too much or a gap in between me a jawaad which made it look like i was standing far away from him. They also told us what went well and even better if. They said what went well was good use of editing on iMovie and the conversation is relevant to the activity. For the even better if was the framing and use of tripod needs to be Improved as it's not clear and characters eye contact isn't clear and this make the conversation look slightly unrealistic.

Taking all there point in i believe that we could make these changes and are clip would be a lot better.

CAMERA SKILLS

In this activity we had to show how to use different camera shots e.g. long shot close up and high angle. We did this activity in half a lesson. I was in a group with Jawaad Amy and Fatima. I enjoyed this activity I believe it help me with my camera skill.

The most challenging parts of this activity was that we found it difficult to find a good setting for are shots. we where doing a scene where an assassin is about to kill his target. However, you wouldn't expect an assassin to be killing someone in a colourful location like are school. So we had to find a dark place of the school to capture all are shots

On the other hand, the simplest part of are activity was taking the camera shot. This was because everyone in my group agreed and all the camera shots we where taking on each shot. This help strength are group because we showed good communication and understanding between each other so it helped strength are relationship between each other.

I've learnt that, I can now take camera shot and work and communicate with other people to work well and quickly to produce good work.

If I could be more critical I would say that we could have been more better with are camera shots because are shots sometime wasn't showing clearly what was going on.
